Dear Friends,
Today was our first full day of mission work. I would like to share with you a typical day in Tinca. When I opened the door at the Isaiah Center, Sammy ran into my arms. His eyes are bright and his smile is contagious. He has long eyelashes and a dimple like my grandson Lukas has. Sammy is three years old. He is kept in the cellar at his grandparents house because they believe he and his brother have evil spirits. His uncle has sexually molested him several times in the last few months. Sammy\s brother Abel is 5 and his head has a gash where his uncle took an axe to it. His face and body are scarred from being beaten daily. He is the older brother so he takes more of the brunt of it. One night he was being beaten so badly he ran away in the middle of the night and came to the Isaiah Center. Because it is so dangerous after dark and Rachel is only allowed to keep him during the day ....she had to tell him that if he came back again at night he would not be allowed to return. He too sleeps in the potato cellar. I wish I could tell you that this is a rare case here but it is an everyday reality that hundreds upon hundreds of children live with. They show so much love even though they are beaten down every day. Abel becomes sullen when it is time to go to his Grandparents home at night. His personality changes completely.
We started our Vacation Bible School today. We took Polaroid pictures of each of the Roma / gypsy children today and it nearly became a riot. Most of them have never seen a picture of themselves. Families showed up begging us to take their picture. Christmas day could never be better than this. We fed them and they hid their sandwichs to get more food. Many of their parents come and take the food away. Some of them have parents that try but the situation is currently hopeless. They were dressed in sleeveless summer close on a 40 degree morning some had no shoes many were wearing flip flops. Most were dirty with head lice. The village has many people in horses and buggies. They were out gathering wood for their cooking fires. Their huts are barren with dirt floors. They hugged us as though no one had every shown them love before. It doesnt happen often here.
Our team returned to Caminul Felix the Happy Homes missionary house another great charity that is housing us and prepared for tomorrow. We gathered around to discuss the day and needless to say we wept the evening way. You cannot begin to understand the pain and suffering until you experience it.
Rachel is 28 years old and has taken dual citizenship to adopt beautiful Bella our enchanting Princess. She is a delightful 5 year old girl whom Rachel is adopting. Because of the embarrassment to Romania over what was happening to children in this country they have closed adoption to Americans so you must live here and take dual citizenship to adopt. Rachel has the 1st phase of the daycare center open with 6 children in daycare. Two of those children are Sammy and Abel. Rachel needs your prayers and she needs financial support. We can only change the generations of abuse and poverty one child at a time.
The Roma children do not have a chance here unless changes are made. We have to be their voice. Contact your congressman and senator. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS.
Rachels heart is broken daily but God builds her up and strengthens her to renew her battle each day one child at a time. Forget Me Not Ministries started by Rachel Ross has a vision to complete and open a 200 bed orphanage and day care center. PLEASE BE A PART OF THAT VISION! Pray and if you can donate whatever you can afford would be appreciated. It is desperately needed. If you cannot afford to donate it is ok just keep praying. I know many of you support other important charities too. But the vision of Sammy and Able will be with me the rest of my life. Even 5.00 can make a difference.

Love to all of you.
